We would like to congratulate Lucy Underwood our Graduate Environmental Scientist for being chosen to attend The Ocean Conference being held at the United Nations Headquaters in New York!
Lucy was chosen with 9 other applicants to attend this conference as part of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations. This conference happens to coincide with World Oceans Day, and the agenda focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 14 – ‘Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development’. The SDG’s, agreed in 2015, consist of 17 goals and was titled Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. SDG14 covers issues of climate change, biodiversity, pollution, sustainable economic development and technology.
Lucy believes very strongly in the sustainable management of the ocean. We are proud that she will be able to attend this event and be apart of their mission to making SDG14 actually doable.
