IPENZ – Celebrate Auckland Engineering Dinner 2016

Wednesday 14th September

A number of AR & Associates staff and their partners attended the 2016 IPENZ ‘Celebrate Auckland Engineering’ Dinner at The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron with more than 180 other guests in attendance.

Celebrate Auckland Engineering is a special event that recognises those that have achieved professional recognition in the past year. It also recognises the winners of the Arthur Mead Award and Luminary Award.

We are very proud to announce that our engineering design for the Kirimoko Park Development Project was awarded a Merit in the Small Project Category (<$5M) of the Arthur Mead Award. This award is open to IPENZ Auckland Branch Members and recognises significant contributions to preserving, conserving and improving the environment. It’s awarded for the best project addressing sustainability, potential adverse environmental effects, waste management and community involvement.

Kirimoko Park is a green-field eco subdivision based on water sensitive design principles. The success of this 117-lot residential development stems from the integration of engineering, urban and landscape design elements from project inception. We worked closely with Meridian Land Development Consultants, Morgan+Pollard Landscape Architecture and Southern Land Ltd for the duration of this project. Our holistic approach resulted in a high end, sustainable and commercially successful outcome for the client Crescent Investments Ltd.

So well done Team Kirimoko at AR & Associates Ltd!

This project delivers urban design sensitive to its location; comprising low impact stormwater with novel features such as fords and detention reservoirs as part of the landscape. By avoiding the use of pipes it provides enhanced seismic resilience. With minimal earthworks and minimal use of concrete it achieves runoff flows no greater than prior to development and avoids introducing contaminated stormwater into nearby Lake Wanaka.” – IPENZ Auckland
